Curing the Toxic Dance: A Poem

A poem about moving humanity forward

The toxic dance (tit-for-tat ) continues on
We've come up and forgot where we come from

Revenge seems to taste so sweet
but it's really just bitter memories

We all need to redirect our sights
to make this world's path go right

It's about healing ourselves and giving space
for others to do the same with just as much grace

The world will shift when we ourselves do
No judgment from me, nor from you

We exist and thrive because we're allowed to be
not because of our race gender or physicality

So dispose of the toxic attitude of tit-for-tat
Growing into our best selves leaves no room for that

It's not about what happened to us when
It's about what we do right now to join in

To focus on what we want instead
Finding ways to forge ahead

Making life better for the planet as a whole
It isn't Just a Dream it's Absolutely Doable

Curing the Toxic Dance by Nicole Batiste

This poem came to me after a conversation with my friend Aundrea D Veney. I thought this a good place to share with you. May it inspire and uplift!
